Cars and drivers of #GRIDLIFE TrackBattle’s round at Autobahn Country Club are always subjected to sweltering summer temperatures. This year was no exception, but that wasn’t an excuse to take things slow. Feras Qartoumy continued his quest to set class records at every event he attends. His TT Corvette and his ability to learn new tracks are equally impressive. By the end of the weekened, Qartoumy walked away with a new class record 1:25.422. In Street Mod, 3 drivers traded the top spots throughout the weekend. Shawn Krebsbach, Alex Moss, and Jackie Ding finished the weekend separated by less than half a second. Krebsbach took the win and class record with a 1:27.820, Moss a 1:27.898, and Ding a 1:28.119. In Street GT, Coby Shield pummeled his competition by 2.5 seconds on his way to a class record 1:30.946. In Street Class, Austin Hertel and Team Twitch’s Brandon Ranvek traded fast laps. By the end of the weekend, Austin Hertel came out on top with a 1:32.125, and Twitch not far behind with a 1:32.475.
In GLTC, it was a battle between Winning Formula’s’ Aaron Leichty, and ASM’s Andy Smedegard all weekend. Both cars are K-swapped RWD cars, and both go faster than you would expect a 200-220whp car to be able to go. By the start of race 4, Andy was 1 point behind leader Leichty, and both were starting at the back of a top-eight field invert. Leichty got a fantastic start and was able to work his way though traffic quickly. While Andy was able to make up a few positions in race 4, it wasnt enough to win the weekend, as Leichty took the overall weekend championship.
